Detailed information on Purple Chalcedony - Amethyst Bracelet I (6mm)

Two shades of purple. Two forms of the same mineral family. One ancient. One modern.

Product Highlights:

  • The Stone: Two stones, one bracelet. The faceted lavender beads are purple chalcedony, soft and milky. The deeper, transparent purple beads are amethyst. Both are purple, but amethyst is sharp and clear, while purple chalcedony is muted and calm. Between them sit dark hematite disc spacers that separate the two purples and give the bracelet its rhythm. Finished with a sterling silver clasp.

  • History: Amethyst carries one of the longest histories of any gemstone. The Greeks named it amethystos, meaning \"not drunk,\" and inlaid their wine goblets with it, believing it would prevent intoxication. Until the 18th century, amethyst was ranked alongside diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald as one of the five cardinal gemstones. Catholic bishops still wear amethyst rings to this day, a tradition rooted in the stone\'s original Greek meaning of sobriety. Purple chalcedony has a much quieter history. Chalcedony itself has been used since the Bronze Age for seals and tools, but the purple variety is valued more recently for its soft color and calm presence.

  • The Belief: In modern crystal practice, amethyst is a third eye and crown chakra stone, said to strengthen mental clarity, calm, and spiritual awareness. Purple chalcedony is said to strengthen emotional balance and inner stability.
