ABOUT SARAH HOOVER

Sarah Hoover is an art historian, writer, cultural critic and consultant straddling the art, dance, literary, fashion, food and non-profit worlds. She holds a masters degree in Cultural Theory from Columbia and a BA in Art History from NYU. Hoover spent the first 15 years of her career as an art dealer, artist liaison and director at Gagosian, the largest and most prominent international gallery.

A prolific essayist, you can find her newest work on vogue.com. She is currently finishing a memoir about her experience with pregnancy and parenthood, which has been optioned for television by MakeReady. She also loves to teach, and will be returning to Barnard’s campus in summer 2023 with her course “Art History of the Exploited Feminist Self.”

Hoover co-founded the Accelerator Committee at American Ballet Theater, which encourages cross pollination between the arts, fashion, film, and female-led choreographic initiatives. She sits on the board of Art Production Fund, which curates and produces public art projects across America. Coalition for the Homeless and Sky High Farm Foundation are other non profits with which she partners to help with fundraising and advocacy.
